Ruth Harbor Ministries Board of Directors
Bill Zook President (Board Director since 2008)
Bill Zook says what brought him to the Ruth Harbor board is the opportunity to serve young women with unplanned pregnancies to ensure they and their unborn babies are safe in God’s hands. Bill retired from Target Stores in 2015 after 39 years of service, most recently as Store Manager at several Target / Super Target Stores in the Des Moines Metro including Ames, Urbandale and West Des Moines. Bill is a past board member of the United Way of Story County, and while with Target Stores, he was involved in many non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity, School Partnerships, Food Pantry, Highway Cleanup, National Night Out and others. Bill and his wife, Tammy, reside in Ankeny where they attend Lutheran Church of Hope, Ankeny Campus. Bill and his wife enjoy traveling, outdoor activities and spending time with their two children and four grandchildren.
Becky Zemlicka Vice President (Board Director since 1996)
One of Ruth Harbor’s three original founders, Becky is most passionate about Ruth Harbor because, “It was the first clear calling from God I received. At the young age of 23, He asked me to serve Him by helping to start this ministry, and so I did. It’s been a blessing ever since.” Becky earned a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from the University of Northern Iowa and owns Mindz Eye Marketing. She volunteers in a variety of ways at her home church, Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.
Carmine Boal Secretary (Board Director since 2008)
Carmine Boal believes every life is precious in God’s sight and that we must show compassion and love for those who face an unplanned pregnancy. She says “This is done through assisting with the physical and practical needs of these women.” Carmine has served as a school board member and state representative for 10 years before serving as Chief Clerk of the Iowa House of Representatives. She and her husband, Steve, are active members of First Family Church in Ankeny. They have been married for 41 years and are the parents of three adult children and three grandchildren.
Rosezine B. Wallace (Board Director since 2011)
Rosezine B. Wallace says she, “accepted the opportunity to serve Ruth Harbor in hopes that my small contributions could enable the ministry in its efforts to see young women have more than a viable option to abortion, but a resource for getting both her life and her child’s life aligned with the plans and purposes of God. Every person should know that God does not discard people. He knows how to take the threads of our lives and weave them into a beautiful tapestry when all others only see broken threads. Ruth Harbor is a place of hope, help and wholeness.” Rosezine’s extensive education background includes a Masters of Theology from the Great Commission Bible Institute & Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is currently the Senior Pastor of Grow Up Ministries Church in Des Moines and a distant learning student at More Than Conquerors College in Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Lori Miller (Board Director since 2017)
Dr. Lori Miller joined the Ruth Harbor board in January of 2017 after attending Ruth Harbor's annual fundraising banquet. Lori is a Physician at The Livewell Clinic in Clive, Iowa, and as such brings her medical knowledge and experience to the board and staff. While Lori enjoys serving on the board, she says her true passion is serving in the home. "God has been challenging me to expand my culture, and volunteering in the Ruth Harbor as a back-up houseparent has given me that opportunity." Lori lives in Norwalk with her husband, Brad, and both are active in their community. They have two children, Collin and Camille. Lori and Brad are members of Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines campus.
Bill Gustoff (Board Director since 2017)
Bill and Sara Gustoff were introduced to Ruth Harbor in 2008 by a board member’s invitation to the annual Ruth Harbor Banquet. As a founding partner of the Hagenow Gustoff & Dummermuth Law Firm, a firm that practices primarily in estate planning and nonprofit organization law, Bill is presented with endless opportunities to serve in ministries and other organizations. "Sara and I look for opportunities we believe will have maximum impact for the Kingdom of God, so when I was asked to join Ruth Harbor’s board in 2017, we knew it was a great fit." said Bill. “The approach of Ruth Harbor affirms what we believe—that all life is precious, and that each life is precious.”
In addition to working with numerous nonprofit organizations and ministries through Bill’s practice, he and Sara (and their four children from ages 21 to 7) are actively involved with various nonprofit ministries, their local church (Lake Country Bible Chapel in Ankeny), and local political efforts that support like-minded causes.
Steve Boal (Board Director since 2019)
Steve has supported Ruth Harbor financially since 2002 because he values life and believes in its mission. Steve's passion for Ruth Harbor's mission and his wife, Carmine's, many years of faithful Board service are what urged him to join the Board in 2019. Steve has served as the CFO for Accu-Mold in Ankeny for 20 years, and his experience on Boards includes civic organizations, Christian ministries, and private companies. Steve and Carmine live in Ankeny and are the parents of three adult children and three grandchildren. They are active members of First Family Church in Ankeny.
Chris Eller (Board Director since 2020)
Chis joined the Ruth Harbor Ministries Board in 2020 because he believes few causes should matter more than the life of an unborn child, and he saw Ruth Harbor as being a unique and essential component to providing a safe harbor for moms who want to give birth to their child, but also need the care, provision, and protection. Chris and his wife of the same name, Chris, live in Ankeny, Iowa. They have three children Jacob, Jonathan (married to Abby), and Julianne, and one grandchild, Taren. Chris works for the Baptist Convention of Iowa and is a member of First Family Church in Ankeny. For relaxation, Chris enjoys reading, writing, photography and mowing.
David Dominguez (Board Director since 2020)
David joined the Ruth Harbor Ministries Board in 2020 because he believes Ruth Harbor provides an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus for women with unplanned pregnancies. "The Bible talks about when we tell those in need, 'be well and warm,' but we do not provide for their need, that we are not really doing anything," shared David. "Ruth Harbor helps turn the desire to help into a reality.” David and his wife, Wendy, have five children that keep them very busy, but in his spare time, David enjoys bike riding, golfing and fishing. He is also very active at his home church, and enjoys the opportunity to teach now and then.
