2020 Virtual Fundraising Event

This Spring, Ruth Harbor marks 20 years of providing hope and life-change through housing, transportation, counseling, life-skills, spiritual guidance, and training; whether young moms choose to parent or place for adoption.
On Saturday, May 8, we're hosting our annual "Walk For Life" to raise awareness and financial support for the moms and babies we serve. Walk anytime on your own OR safely join us in person on SATURDAY, MAY 8, at Ruth Harbor Des Moines anytime between 9:30 and 11:30 A.M.
Participating in the Walk is great! However, being a SPONSORED WALKER is what provides life-change for young moms.

  1. Register to attend either in person or to participate virtually by clicking the "Register Online Here" button below.
  2. Raise funds & awareness for young moms by asking friends, neighbors & family to support you (most will say, “yes”).
  3. Walk anytime on your own, or safely join us in person with your household at Ruth Harbor Des Moines.
  4. Raise $250+ and receive a commemorative t-shirt.
You and your sponsors will multiply the support, guidance and hope for young moms and babies whether you participate with us on your own or in person on May 8!
Ruth Harbor Ministries provides housing and support for young moms impacted by an unplanned pregnancy and their babies.

Q: What COVID safety measures will be in place for the in person event on Saturday, May 8th?
A: Instead of one large group gathering and walking together, participants can arrive anytime between 9:30am – 11:30am to walk at an “open house” style event. Staggered start times will make social distancing easy, and everything will be outside.

Q: What if I don’t feel comfortable walking in-person, or am unable to walk on Saturday, May 8th?
A: Feel free to register to attend virtually in order to walk anytime on your own or with your household at a date, time and location that works for you.
Q: How do I earn a free commemorative t-shirt?
A: Raise $250+
Q: Can I change my attendance type? I registered to participate virtually but now wish to attend in person.
A: Please contact Aimee@RuthHarbor.org to request this change.

Christ-centered homes & programs for pregnant and parenting young moms.

Ruth Harbor holds two major awareness and fundraising events each year. Be sure to follow us on Facebook & Twitter, and join our email list to be notified of these upcoming events and how you can get involved.

  • Our Walk For Life is a family-friendly outdoor event held in May, the Saturday prior to Mother’s day. Individuals, families, small groups and churches are encouraged to become “sponsored walkers” and join us for a 1.2-mile walk to celebrate and raise funds for the ministry.

  • Our Fundraising Banquet is held in November of each year. This is an adult-only, business casual banquet with an opportunity to be envisioned and encouraged by a guest speaker, be brought up-to-date on the ministry’s successes and dreams, and enjoy life-changing testimonies from our former residents.

Since we laughed along with him at last year’s banquet, Mike Williams published two books: Don’t Stand Under a Flock of Angry Birds: Ancient Wisdom from A Modern App and The Parable of the Muddy Jeep: The Adventurous Life of Riding Shotgun with God. He has another book due out yet this fall entitled Bows & Arrows…Life lessons I learned while trying to hit my target. Mike has recorded 14 CDs, 4 DVDs, and written numerous other books. Nationally-known speaker and writer, he’s heard daily on SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s Laugh USA channel. Mike came to popularity as a pro-life speaker after Focus on the Family brought his personal story of his own adoption and his son’s rescue and subsequent adoption to national spotlight.
